- Description : Setup, delivery, and cleanup associated with a 100+ person Pancake Breakfast event.
- Typically about 4 hours in length.
- Braintree Relay for Life has asked us to help them again this year on Saturday, May 30th. Thank you to Dave Curran for taking the lead on this opportunity to serve our community.
- From Dave:
- Troop 19 has been asked to assist with Braintree’s 25th Relay for Life.
- Michelle Maloney (former Pack 22 Den Leader) has asked Troop 19 again this year to help with event set-up at French’s Common (next to Braintree Town Hall, 1 John F. Kennedy Memorial Dr.).
- Scouts are needed to help participants move gear from their cars to their sites, and to assist with setting up tents, tables, and other miscellaneous items.
- Morning shift: 9:00 AM to after the 1:00 PM flag ceremony.
- New this year: the troop has also been asked to lead a flag ceremony at 1:00 PM. Scouts should have their Class A uniform for the ceremony.
- Michelle is also looking for anyone who may be available (to return) to help with breakdown at 8:00 PM.
- Possible evening shift (if we have enough volunteers): 7:45–9:00 PM (to assist with breakdown/closing).
- Depending on the number of scouts who volunteer, we may also be able to assist as parking attendants—more details to come.
- Call to action: If you can help, please volunteer for the morning shift and (if you’re available) indicate interest in the possible evening shift so we can confirm whether we have enough coverage.
- Sign up: Please check the sign-up sheet at Monday’s meeting.
- Adults: We could use a few additional leaders to help supervise, please email Dave Curran: davthocur@hotmail.com
- Abigail Adams Birthplace Fall Cleanup – NEXT SATURDAY Saturday November 29th in the morning with a rain date of Sunday. We perform this cleanup service annually.
- We start working at 9AM and with enough help it only takes 1-2 hours to complete.
- 180 Norton Street Weymouth MA
- We need Scouts and adults with rakes, leaf blowers and other outdoor cleanup gear.
- Wear your Class B uniform so everyone knows who is doing this work. We do it every year for them!
- “Tanks-a-Lot!” to Hank Goldman for coordinating this service project every year.
- Troop Service Project in October – We are planning to finish painting our storage container up at the Sons of Italy as well as organizing our gear in the container.
- The plan right now is to do this in the morning of the Saturday of Columbus Day weekend (rain date Sunday) – October 11th starting at 9AM until we finish the job.
- If you are around that weekend, we could use your help. That includes ADULTS to perform work that youth are not permitted to do in Scouting.
- Moose Lodge Cleanup – Put in Saturday, May 31st starting at 9AM in your calendars for a cleanup at the Braintree Moose Lodge. They allow us and Pack 19 to meet at their facility weekly for no cost, let’s help them do a little outdoor cleanup.
- We plan to also send a small group over to the Abigail Adams house to do a quick cleanup there. We will likely all meet at the Moose and split up from there.
- Sons of Italy Service Project – SUNDAY June 29th
- Outdoor cleanup and repairs to our storage container
- The Sons of Italy allow us to store our shipping container on their property and use their parking lot for activities. We would like to perform a service project for them on a weekend in June. We also have some work to do to our container.
- Braintree Relay for Life Service Opportunity – 5/17
- Via Dave Curran (davthocur@hotmail.com)
- Michelle Maloney has contacted us to see if Troop 19 could volunteer scouts for a few hours to help set up for the Relay for Life event in Braintree at French’s Common (Town Hall) on Saturday, May 17th, 2024. Last year we had about 6-7 scouts (can always take more) which was enough to assist with the unloading of trucks and setting up of tents. Michelle is a Den Leader Emerita from Pack 22, and has requested our assistance previously.
- They are looking for help from 9AM-12PM for setup; if you really want to help out they could even use extra hands starting at 7:30AM.
