Troop 19 Summer Program

  • Troop 19 Summer Program – Starts  MONDAY NIGHT
    • In place of regular Monday night Troop meetings, for the end of June into late August or early September, we have a Monday night activity, and sometimes a weekend day trip too.
      • We try to alternate between activities that have zero cost to you to attend and events that have a small to moderate cost to attend. 
    • This is the schedule of the Summer Program as it stands right now:
      • June 24-Softball  (Milt Kelly Field at Webb Park in WEYMOUTH LANDING – on Gibbens Street off of Summit Street)
      • July 1-Magoo’s Mini-Golf and Ice Cream in Rockland
      • July 8- Canoe Trip- Weymouth Landing Boat Launch
      • Saturday Day Trip July 13: JFK Library
      • July 15-Sports Competition
      • July 22-Boda Borg
      • Saturday Day Trip July 27: George’s Island/Harbor Island Ferry
      • July 29 – Nantasket
      • August 5- Loading  Trailer/Kickoff Cookoff
      • August 12- Summer Camp
      • August 19-Starland
      • August 26- Patrol Relay Race

    Service Opportunities

    • Volunteer Opportunity on June 8th at Braintree Town Hall
      • This is coming to us from Committee Member Dave Curran (davthocur@hotmail.com)
        • Michelle Maloney, former Assistant Den Leader for Pack 22 is looking for assistance at the Relay for Life event to be held on June 8th at Braintree Town Hall this year.  They could use at least 5-6 scouts to assist people unloading their cars and setting up their tables/displays from 10:00am-12:30pm.  We had a good number of scouts volunteers last year and we made pretty quick work of it. I’m happy to be one of the adult volunteers. 

    Service Opportunities

      • Service Opportunities – Saturday, April 27th
        • We have committed to sending several adults and any interested Scouts down to Camp Squanto for the annual Camp Squanto Appreciation Day service day.
          • Talk to Brian about helping out at Camp Squanto. 
        • Weymouth town-wide cleanup on April 27th. We are volunteering to perform a spring cleanup at the Abigail Adams birthplace in Weymouth Heights.
          • Tanks-a-Lot! To Troy Emet for stepping up to be the adult in charge of this service project. Troy needs at least one additional registered adult leader to be on-site for the project. We need as many Scouts as possible to help out! 

      • Service Opportunities with our charter organization – 
        • Saturday, May 18th at the Whitman’s Pond gazebo cleanup
        • Sunday, May 19th at Whipple Center in Weymouth – Pancake Breakfast 8-11:30AM
          • We’ve been asked if we are available to assist with this event. They are looking for help with all aspects of running the event: setup, kitchen, serving, parking, cleanup.

      • Volunteer Opportunity – Sunday February 11th
        • IF INTERESTED IN HELPING, PLEASE SPEAK TO THE SCOUTMASTER (or email tractor698@aol.com)
        • Our charter organization, Weymouth Rotary Club, is looking for help with an event at the Weymouth Senior Center “Super Bowl Lunch” on Sunday, February 11th. They are expecting nearly 200 guests. 
        • Setup help needed 10AM-Noon and serving/cleanup help needed from Noon-2:30PM
        • They are looking for around a half dozen Scouts to assist. 
        • Whipple Center 182 Green Street North Weymouth

      • February Gym Night – NEXT Wednesday, 2/14 at First Church
        • Bring a friend!
        • Gym Night is a great opportunity to complete FITNESS advancement requirements, which many of you need to do. We may be able to work on other advancement items at Gym Nights if you ask in advance. 
        • Troop Committee Members – There is a chance that certain Scouts would be ready for a Board of Review during Gym Night this month, if we had at least 3 of you present, we could help our Scouts advance.
