January Campout: Weather Tips, and How to Prepare!

  • Next Campout – January 16-18 at Camp Squanto
    • Usual details. Cabin campout. $20 to attend. 
    • We will be staying in the Dakota and Derby cabins.
    • Arrive any time after 6:30pm on Friday. Rides should be in camp on Sunday for a 9AM pickup but no one will be dismissed early without permission from the Scoutmaster and SPL. 
    • We will be spending time outdoors. Bring appropriate clothing and footwear for outdoor winter activities.
    • Don’t forget your mess kit, a flashlight, your Scout handbook, water bottle. 

December Campout

  • Next Campout – December 5-7 at Camp Resolute in Bolton MA
    • Sign up on Monday night! $20 for Scouts and adults. 
    • We are staying in the Craft Pavillion Cabin, which is on the Cub Day Camp side of the property. This is on the other side of the pond so DO NOT go to the main parking lot of camp. Continue down the road to #129 Hudson Road, you should see the sign for “Adventure Day Camp”
    • We are seeking ADULTS who are willing to go on the campout and DRIVE Scouts to the American Heritage Museum on Saturday. The Scouts want to visit the museum but we need committed drivers for this to work.
      • Alternatively, if any adults with large capacity vehicles that are not camping overnight want to help us with transportation for the day on that Saturday, we will cover your admission for the museum.

November Campout

  • Next Campout – November 7-9th at Camp Norse –
    • This is our annual AOL invitational campout to show off Troop 19 to potential new Scouts!
    • Sign up on Monday night! $20 for Scouts and adults. 
    • Arrive at Camp Norse any time after 6:30pm on Friday. You are on your own for dinner. 
    • We are TENTING but have access to the “Cosmic Cabins” and you will find us there. 
    • Departure time will be announced by the Scoutmaster. 
    • As for packing, be sure you have a warm sleeping bag, maybe extra blankets, warm clothes, flashlight, wash up gear, Scout handbook, water bottle, MESS KIT, all the normal stuff for outdoor camping in November. 

October Campout

  • October/JLT Campout Next Weekend – If you haven’t signed up, tomorrow is your LAST CHANCE.
    • We will be at Camp Squanto
    • Arrive any time after 6:30PM on Friday. DEPARTURE on SUNDAY is set for 10AM.
    • Each Patrol is purchasing and cooking the menus they planned for the weekend. 
    • Scouts will be TENTING in the Handicraft site. We have the Dakota Cabin as our campout HQ and for adults to stay in.
    • BRING YOUR MESS KIT – plate, bowl, cup, utensils and ideally a mesh bag to store everything in. 

September Campout

  • Monadnock Hike Campout for Late September. 9/26-9/28 campout and hike up Mt Monadnock. This fulfills a Camping Merit Badge requirement.
    • Sign up at any Monday meeting. $20 to attend. 
    • We will try to coordinate carpooling for this but that means we need to know who is driving and has extra seats as well as who is looking for a ride.
      • PLEASE sign up this week (9/15) to help us start planning carpooling earlier as well as purchase speciality food for trail cooking that will satisfy certain advancement requirements for Scouts attending.
